Senior System and Network Administrator

General Purpose:
Information technology senior network  and system administrators are responsible for providing system- and network-related solutions for their organization's information-technology assets. They oversee the functioning of networking equipment, servers, workstations and follow strict maintenance standards. Their experience in the IT and networking fields is also used to develop new strategies to optimize server operation. They work with other IT team members, supervisors, and end-users to work on connectivity problems. IT senior network and system administrators also manage complex system requirements and create technical documentation for users. 

Essential Functions:

  • Monitoring and maintaining Hyper-V (HA) host clusters and virtual machines
  • Familiar with networking administration and security, working knowledge of route-maps, VLANs, LAN/WAN routing, IOS, ASA
  • Familiar with SIEM (Splunk) to centrally log, audit, correlate and report on security events to react to incidents and provide clear and concise reports
  • Experience in administration and support of Microsoft server 2003/2008/2008R2/2012 in a mixed environment, with working knowledge of critical services such as: DHCP/DNS/Active Directory/Group Policy administration
  • Experience in administration and support of IIS and Apache webservers
  • SAN and NAS experience (EMC, Dell, LeftHand, Netgear)
  • Administration of Microsoft Office 365 (Azure, Exchange, SharePoint, DirSync)
  • Familiar with administration of VoIP phone sytems, Avaya CM knowledge preffered
  • Administration and monitoring of anti-virus for all workstations, servers and remediation of any threats
  • Experience with backup technology, verification of backups, and testing data/disaster recovery scenarios
  • Design, develop, evaluate, and implement all technology policies, programs, and planning for technology solutions that are secure, stable, accessible and affordable.
  • Demonstrate a successful record of implementation and management of emerging technologies
  • Show experience in project planning and management
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and collaborate with colleagues
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong team-building skills, and the capacity to thrive and lead others in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Defines user information requirements by conferring with users and analyzing functions. Recommends and develops computer-based business solutions.
  • Prepares and maintains technical specifications and related documentation to secure procedures and prevent system failure. Responsible for company's disaster recovery plan.
  • Improves existing software programs and develops new applications to meet future business needs.
  • Keeps organization compliant with all outside agencies.

  • Working knowledge of database design and administration (MSSQL preferred)

Education or Formal Training:

  • BS degree in Computer Information Systems, InfoSec, Computer Science or related field


  • Minimum of 5 years Network and Server Administration experience
  • In depth knowledge of network capacity, planning, network security protocols and network management best practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical staff and customers
